It takes the aerodynamics and air resistance into play when you try to fly. Adjustable Landing Gear (updated Firespitter.dll here) Procedural Wings. The game calculates a LOT of stuff all the time when you play. Switching the main propulsion to a rocket engine ("Reliant") burns through its fuel much more rapidly and really doesn't have the range to get beyond the mountains NW of the space center. Why is Kerbal Space Program so hard But since Kerbal Space Program is rooted in real physics, things get hard. My simple plane with a "Juno" pushing it struggles to get past 80 m/s surface speed, so stalls out really easily.

I want to make an Apollo themed system for Kerbal Space Program using the Prop. My issue trying to just make a basic plane with only the "Aviation"-unlocked parts is lack of thrust. This works with FSX, P3D, X-Plane and in the beta version with MSFS2020. I have watched Scott Manley's guide to early career mode planes, and his guide on aerodynamics, however both are using pre-1.0.5 setups, and the J-33 "Wheesley" Turbofan engine 1.0.3 started players out with has much more thrust (80) than the "Juno" (20). But only unlocks the J-20 "Juno" basic jet engine. The "Aviation" node of the tech tree unlocks the basic landing gear, plane cockpit, wings, and liquid-fuel fuselage parts. I'm playing through a Career-mode game in 1.0.5 and trying to get a basic plane (not a spaceplane, just a "gets me around to some survey locations" in-atmosphere plane), with the most basic tech.
